Artist: HurtLocker
Album: Embrace the Fall
Year: 2007
Genre: Thrash/Death Metal
HurtLocker is from Chicago, Illinois and they sounds like a cross between Konkhra’s early Death N Roll albums, the new Witchery album and Hatesphere with out the melodic. “Embrace the Fall” is brutal, fast and heavy with an underlying groove that sets them apart from the rest. The opening track “I Am Napalm” sets the stage for a brutal assault of quality metal. Another stand out track is “Release the Sin” which has sounds like it could have been on “Seasons in the Abyss”. Fuck Yeah!
Oh and did I mention that this is another eMusic discovery.

Artist: Slow Death Factory
Album: From The Gutter To Your Ears
Year: 2008
Genre: Death/Sludge/Thrash Metal
I found these guys on last.fm and when I went to their site I found that they are giving away their two releases for FREE!! Slow Death Factory is a Danish Metal band that plays some dirty sludgy thrashing metal. I’ve listened to “From The Gutter To Your Ears” at least 5 times today and I could go a few more rounds.
They also have an EP “Music for Tough Guys” available for FREE!! The EP has a dirty unpolished, low budget, “we’re a new band” kind of sound that is ok but their full length kicks ass.

Artist: Speed Kill Hate
Album: Acts Of Insanity
Year: 2005
Genre: Thrash Metal
I don’t know who they are, where they are from or if they are still around. The only thing that matters is that this album will kick your ass and stomp your head into the ground. This may be the some of the finest Thrash Metal I have heard in a while. Oh yeah this is another gem from the depths of the eMusic catalog.

Artist: Pitch Black Forecast
Album: Absentee
Year: 2008
Genre: Thrash/Sludge/Groove Metal
Pitch Black Forecast was formed in 2005 with ex-members of Mushroomhead and Strapping Young Lad and have sadly only released this one album in 2008. This is some really good stuff that mixes elements of Thrash, Hardcore, Groove Metal into a concoction that makes me want to mosh. The funny thing about this is that I don’t really care for Mushroomhead or Strapping Young Lad but some how Pitch Black Forecast really works for me.

Artist: 100 Demons
Album: 100 Demons
Year: 2004
Genre: Thrash Metal
I found this on eMusic and I’ll admit these’s nothing new or innovative about the music but it is some petty kick ass Thrash Metal that’s well worth listening to. 100 Demons are from Waterbury, CT and on their 2nd studio album they shred hardcore punk and thrash metal into 28 minutes of grinding mayhem. I’m surprised that I’d never heard of these guys before.

Artist: If He Dies He Dies
Album: The Rise….The Fall
Year: 2008
Genre: Sludge/Thrash Metal
I am surprised I’d never heard these before today because this is pretty good stuff but it’s got too much melodic singing for my tastes. Their last studio album ”The Rise….The Fall” got a nice mix of thrash and metalcore with sludge/doom layered on top that gives it a bit of a unique sound. The opening track “Heroine” sounds like something Mendozaa would be cranking out and they keep the pace up until track 4, “Like a Man Possessed” which strays int that melodic shit that I hate and again on track 7 “Save Your Savior”. I HATE MELODIC METALCORE! Any way they redeem themselves by staying with the chaos for most of the album but that melodic shit’s gotta go. I hate to say it but I don’t think I like this band so I’m not going to bother with a DL.

Artist: Agenda Of Swine
Album: Waves Of Human Suffering
Year: 2008
Genre: Thrash Metal, Grind Metal
Last Friday while digging through a piss-poor excuse of a “Metal” section at my local BurryNew shop I found Agenda Of Swine’s “Waves Of Human Suffering” CD brand new for $3.99. What? $3.99? It must be a mistake. I’d never heard of them before but the package said something like “If you like Slayer, Pig Destroyer, bla bla bla”. I figured is they’re being compared to Slayer and it’s only $3.99 then I just found a pricing mistake and I should jump on it.
Fifteen minutes and 5 tracks later I was starting to think I just wasted $3.99. Musically the band rips it up buy laying down some righteous thrash metal but the vocals sound like they were meant for a different album. The singer sings so fast that anyone with in 3 feet of his maw will be coved in spit and drool which sounds like a cross-between Speed Metal and skate-punk.
After 2 listens to the album I’m still on the fence. So help me out and listen to this and tell me what you think.
