Artist: Konkara
Album: Nothing is Scared
Year: 2009
Genre: Death/Thrash Metal – Death N’ Roll
I just realized that my last few posts have been on Fridays which makes sense because my real life job is very VERY busy.  Anyway this is the latest release from Death Metal veterans Konkhra which (for lack of a truly creative statement) kick fucking ass!!  I have been listening to this for a few months and it just keeps getting better.  In fact their entire catalog of music dating as far back as 1990, is amazing which makes me wonder why I’d never heard of them until a few months ago.
Konkhra formed in 1989 in Copenhagen, Denmark and have released 7 full length albums, 3 EP’s, 1 VHS Video and a hand full of demos.  During their onslaught of releases their music has swayed from Death/Thrash to Death/Groove to Death N’ Roll and back to their roots of Death Metal.
“Nothing is Scared” opens with George W. Bush giving a fake speech (it’s his voice and words but all from different speeches) that actually sounds like something he would say to his cohorts.
Bla ba bla…check it out for your self.

Generals - Stand Up Straight

Artist: The Generals
Album: Stand Up Straight
Year: 2009
Genre: Death N’ Roll

I’ve had a super busy week and haven’t had much time to post any new stuff.  I know fuck all about The Generals but whoever they are and where ever they are from they kick ass. The Generals sound like The Profane at a Kaptain Sun show playing covers of Chrome Division.

Korotory - Age of Rebellion

Artist: Korotory
Album: Age of Rebellion
Year: 2009
Genre: Thrash/Death/Groove Metal

New York based Korotory, have been together since 1995 but “Age of Rebellion” is their first official release. You’d think that in a 15 year time span that a band would have put out a lot more music but you cannot rush perfection. Yes perfection. This album is a perfect mix of killer groove riffs, pounding drums and screaming vocals that makes every track better than the last.

Conans First Date - Effigies

Artist: Conan’s First Date
Album: Effigies
Year: 2009
Genre: Death N’ Roll, Sludge Metal

This one has been on my “Save For Later” list on eMusic for a while and now I’ve finally gotten around to grabbing it. Conan’s First Date (that’s such a cool name) are from Hungry and that’s all I know. “Effigies” is their only release and it’s 22 minutes of pounding grinding sludgy death n’ roll. These guys need to crank out more of this shit because 22 minutes is just not enough.

Bosnia-Nazarene Hallucinations

Artist: Bosnia
Album: Nazarene Hallucinations
Year: 2008
Genre: Death/Sludge/Doom N’ Roll

This is Bosnia a Death/Sludge/Doom N’ Roll band from Denver, CO with their full-length (26 minutes?) album Nazarene Hallucinations. I found the band here here and their album here. The Metal-Archives has them listed as Death N’ Roll but this is definitely Sludge/Doom.

Kaptain Sun - Blood, Rock n' Roll And Black Angels

Artist: Kaptain Sun
Album: Blood, Rock n’ Roll And Black Angels
Year: 2005
Genre: Death N’ Roll

It took me a long time to track this album down so you’d better like it or Milt will cut your balls off. This was the last full-length release by Swedish metal heads Kaptain Sun and it’s a total shame that they are now split up because this album is the dog’s bollocks of Death N’ Roll. It’s a classic mix of Thrash Metal riffs, growling vocals, double-bass pounding drums and blinding guitar solos. Fuck Yeah!!

Phazm - Cornerstone Of The Macabre

Artist: Phazm
Album: Cornerstone Of The Macabre
Year: 2008
Genre: Death N’ Roll

“Phazm was born in the fall of 2003. The two chord-whippers, Pierhryck (aka Pierrick Valence, singer on Scarve’s third and fourth albums) and Pathryck (aka Patrick Martin from Scarve), found a common passion in creating dark, mud-soaked riffs, as well as in inhaling obscure forest substances. Skin-torturer Dyrhk (aka Dirk Verbeuren from Scarve, Soilwork, Aborted, Artsonic, Lyzanxia) was immediately seduced by this realm of aggressive black metal sounds coated with rock n roll influences, and during the Fall of 2003, Phazm spawned its first aural insanities. Mahx (bazz) left his little stinky hole shortly before the recording of a three tracks demo. The four-piece didnt even take the time to give this demo its originally intended release. Instead, they decided to migrate towards the Danish plains in order to record their first full-length offering with producer Jacob Hansen (ILLDISPOSED, INVOCATOR, ABORTED). During the cold and dark month of December 2003, ten songs were carved onto tape in a very raw and straightforward manner.
In March 2009, Pierrick announced that Phazm disbanded.” ~ last.fm

Artist: Chrome Division
Album: Booze, Broads And Beelzebub (2008) & Doomsday Rock n’ Roll (2006)
Genre: Heavy Metal, Death N’ Roll

“Chrome Division The Essence of Rock and Metal music. It’s all about sex, drugs and Rock ‘n Roll. Or as they put themselves: Booze, Broads and Beelzebub! It all began the summer of ’04. Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir summoned his long time friends Lex Icon of The Kovenant and Luna of Ashes to Ashes. Respectively on drums and bass guitar. During months of rehearsing and beer drinking, the band took shape.” ~ last.fm

I’m totally digging these guys.
