I’m not a huge fan of Sludge/Doom Metal music but once in a while I stumble across band’s like 16, Gorilla Monsoon and most recently Black Tusk that I really like.  Black Tusk are from Savannah, GA  and have released several Split EP’s, a demo or two and one full length album, “Passage Through Purgatory”.  The thing that grabbed my attention while listening to the album was Hardcore and Thrash Metal sound that’s mixed in Sludge and Doom.  After a quick browse of their web site I saw that they have tagged themselves as “Swamp Metal” which makes sense I guess. Anyway check these guys out if you’re looking for something new that doesn’t suck donkey balls.
