Artist: Hateform
Album: Origins of Plague
Year: 2010
Genre: Death\Thrash Metal
Yeah so it’s been a few months. What can I say I’ve been busy.
I’ve been trying to find this gem for a few months now and by chance I re-singed up to eMusic for $0.99 and sure enough Hateform’s 2010 release shows up.
I don’t know where or how I came across their first album “Dominance” (2008) but I played the crap out of it.
Anyway Hateform plays a style of DeathThrash with Groove Metal breakdowns much like Dew-Scented and The Burning.
Artist: Dew-Scented
Album: Invocation
Year: 2010
Genre: Death/Thrash Metal
Evey time I post a band/album I’m always freaking out that this is the best band or album ever or some shit like that. But the truth is that every band or album I post here is the greatest thing in the world at that moment. If I think it sucks then I don’t listen to it and I don’t post it either.
So just this week I discovered Dew-Scented. Yeah sure they’ve been around for a while but I am just now catching on. It’s the usual story; I’m on last.fm and a band recommendations was for Dew-Scented. So I go to their page and read their blurb; German Death & Thrash Metal band. Then I scroll down to the comments and there it is, one of the things that tells me that this band is for me, “If you like Slayer then you’ll like Dew-Scented.” OMFG I love Slayer!! Sold.
So I track dow a copy of their new album and give it a spin. Hmm this is pretty good. So I give it another go. Wow this is really good it kind of sounds like…SLAYER!!! So I listen again. OMFG THIS IS THE LOST SLAYER ALBUM!!! It sounds like Reigning Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss & God Hates Us All but with cookie monster like vocals.
Artist: HurtLocker
Album: Embrace the Fall
Year: 2007
Genre: Thrash/Death Metal
HurtLocker is from Chicago, Illinois and they sounds like a cross between Konkhra’s early Death N Roll albums, the new Witchery album and Hatesphere with out the melodic. “Embrace the Fall” is brutal, fast and heavy with an underlying groove that sets them apart from the rest. The opening track “I Am Napalm” sets the stage for a brutal assault of quality metal. Another stand out track is “Release the Sin” which has sounds like it could have been on “Seasons in the Abyss”. Fuck Yeah!
Oh and did I mention that this is another eMusic discovery.
Artist: Speed Kill Hate
Album: Acts Of Insanity
Year: 2005
Genre: Thrash Metal
I don’t know who they are, where they are from or if they are still around. The only thing that matters is that this album will kick your ass and stomp your head into the ground. This may be the some of the finest Thrash Metal I have heard in a while. Oh yeah this is another gem from the depths of the eMusic catalog.
Artist: 100 Demons
Album: 100 Demons
Year: 2004
Genre: Thrash Metal
I found this on eMusic and I’ll admit these’s nothing new or innovative about the music but it is some petty kick ass Thrash Metal that’s well worth listening to. 100 Demons are from Waterbury, CT and on their 2nd studio album they shred hardcore punk and thrash metal into 28 minutes of grinding mayhem. I’m surprised that I’d never heard of these guys before.
Artist: Agenda Of Swine
Album: Waves Of Human Suffering
Year: 2008
Genre: Thrash Metal, Grind Metal
Last Friday while digging through a piss-poor excuse of a “Metal” section at my local BurryNew shop I found Agenda Of Swine’s “Waves Of Human Suffering” CD brand new for $3.99. What? $3.99? It must be a mistake. I’d never heard of them before but the package said something like “If you like Slayer, Pig Destroyer, bla bla bla”. I figured is they’re being compared to Slayer and it’s only $3.99 then I just found a pricing mistake and I should jump on it.
Fifteen minutes and 5 tracks later I was starting to think I just wasted $3.99. Musically the band rips it up buy laying down some righteous thrash metal but the vocals sound like they were meant for a different album. The singer sings so fast that anyone with in 3 feet of his maw will be coved in spit and drool which sounds like a cross-between Speed Metal and skate-punk.
After 2 listens to the album I’m still on the fence. So help me out and listen to this and tell me what you think.
The only thing I know about these guys for sure is that they play some no-holds-bared hardcore metal. These guys were suggested to me by Last.fm because they are similar Iron Age which is true if you squint your eyes and plug one ear. Anyway it’s a welcome suggestion because these guys are pretty damn good. If you like D.R.I., Municipal Waste or things that don’t suck then you’ll love Bitter End.
Artist: Nihilist
Album: Blood Portraits
Year: 2009
Genre: Thrash Metal
I read about this band on one of the Skateboarding Web Mags and I spent months looking for their music. I guess I assumed that they were so obscure that they wouldn’t be on eMusic but sho’ ’nuff they were there right under my nose.
Nihilist cranks out no-holds-barred thrash metal that is in line with the campy styles of Municipal Waste and Austrian Death Machine. Their songs are about leather, beer, bitches and dead shit. What more is there?
Artist: Gama Bomb
Album: Tales From The Grave In Space
Genre: Thrash Metal
I fucking love Thrash Metal!! I present to you Gama Bomb, a new(ish) thrash metal band throwing down some old school thrash metal. Spaceships, aliens, ninjas, witches, skeletons, ghosts, mummies and among other things Mussolini. ”Tales from the Grave in Space” is a combination of Anthrax moshing, Iron Maiden screaming and Slayer’s speed.
Here’s a sample of the song “New Eliminators Of Atlantis BC”:
This blog is a collection of music that I like. My purpose is to introduce you to music with previews and samples. In no ways is it a substitution of the original works. If you the artist or representative wish removal of any items let me know and I will remove the content ASAP.
