I have a love hate relationship with the Whores.  The music is great.  Most of the songs have fat chugging riffs that I love and the song composition is spot on.  But and this is purely for constructive criticism, the drums are a bit what’s the word I’m looking for…basic.   The drummer does a fantastic job of keeping the beat but it sounds like 5 minutes before they went into the studio they used a stand-in drummer.
These guys HAD great potential considering this is their only album  and was released in 2005.

Despite what I think are production issues I still think this an album worth hunting down.

The Plight are a hard rock, punk, stoner sludge band from Leeds, England. and “The Winds of Osiris” is their fisrt full-lenght release.  I found these guys via the SludgeSwamp while checking out a a post on the Cancer Bats.  A quick search at eMusic and sure enough they’s got bother of their EP’s “Black Summer (2007)” and “The Plight  (2006)” as well as their full-length “The Winds of Osiris”.  It’s hard to nail down their sound but what ever it is I like it.  The singer’s got a nice raspy voice that would go well in a hardcore band but instead he’s backed up by heavy stoner rock riffs and jams.

I found this 2 song split ep on eMusic.com and apparently I downloaded it a few months ago and totally forgot about it. What a dumb ass move that was because both songs are pretty awesome in my book. The ASG song “All Over Creation” is some awesome Stoner Rock and the song “20 in 2010″ may be one of my favorite KTB songs ever.

I found a link to this free EP on some other bands MySpace page and of course I can’t remember what band it was. The Red Coil are an Italian Stoner Rock/Metal band that have a great sound kind of like God Smack but not as commercial.

Here’s another gem I found while digging in the SludgeSwamp. According to the original post from Nov 2009: The Killing Cure are from Norway, they recorded this EP in Jan 2008, they gave the EP away for free and they are unsigned.
After listening to the 6 track EP one would think they are from the deserts of California and that they recorded this EP back in the hey-day of Kyuss. Someones gotta sign these guys because they’ve got the skills and everyone needs more Stoner Rock.
