Artist: Repomen
Album: Roadkill
Year: 2008
Genre: Punk N’ Roll / Stoner Metal
I’m a lazy fucker so here’s the last.fm description:
Repomen are a heavy stonerrock band from Eindhoven, Netherlands. There members consist of 3 ex-Borehole members (Roel Aben Mo Truijens & Miriam Bekkers) and Peter van Elderen, who is also known as the leadguitarist/leadsinger of the Dutch hard rock’n’roll band ‘Peter Pan Speedrock’. Repomen have a really hard and heavy stoner sound, but often rock & roll influences are recognizable.
I have no clue as to where, when or how this band ended up in my collection but I’m sure glad I stumbled on it today. This is the shit!!

Artist: Imperial Battlesnake
Album: Sentinels of the Hardlands
Year: 2009
Genre: Epic Stoner Metal
“Imagine that somewhere in the middle of a deep, black ocean five Rock and Roll soldiers emerge form their under-a-skull-shaped-volcano studio and proudly hoist their flag, emblazoned with only one word: “ATTACK!”. One need not use their imagination to see that IMPERIAL BATTLESNAKE wastes no time dropping the gauntlet and charging forward into an aural war with its first full-length album “ATTACK!”, Not just the title of the album, “ATTACK!” is a battle cry for the legions of Metal militiamen who want nothing more than to see real Metal return and blast corporate faux-Metal into paste.” ~ last.fm
Imperial Battlesnake is not exactly my cup of tea but they are giving this one away for FREE at CDbaby and who doesn’t like FREE things?!
Epic Metal: Imperial Battlesnake – Sentinels of the Hardlands
Artist: Planet of Zeus
Album: Eleven The Hard Way
Year: 2008
Genre: Stoner Rock/Metal
Planet of Zeus hail from Athens, Greece and “Eleven The Hard Way” may be their only album but at least it’s a good album. Unlike Speedblow (another Greek band I have gushed over) who play Stoner Metal w/ Doom, Planet of Zeus lay down some killer Stoner Rock with a Southern Metal vibe. They kind of remind me of Solace with the vocals that go from screaming to singing and back to screaming along with a few speaker melting guitar solos.

Artist: We’re All Gonna Die
Album: The Wreck of the Minot
Year: 2005
Genre: Stoner Metal
Yes, We’re All Gonna Die but until then let’s listen to awesome music everyday. Boston’s We’re All Gonna Die is either on break or has disbanded, I don’t know. One of the bands members (the singer) has gone on to form 1/3 of Black Thai with a former band member of Cortez. Since the day I found Black Thai’s 2 song demo, I have play it a few times every day. The vocals are awesome and the riffs are legendary. (Black Thai better put out a full-length album or Milt will cut their balls off.)
Anyway “The Wreck of the Minot” is a roller-coaster of riffs, rhythms and emotions. The songs weave from thrashing stoner metal to Reveille style rapcore to metalcore-ish melodies and back to grinding screaming riffs. Again this an album I picked up on eMusic but never gave it a proper listen. (Kick-self-in-ass.)
If you like Black Thai and can’t fucking wait for them to put out more music then We’re All Gonna Die might hole-you-over for a while.

I know nothing about these guys. But what I do know is that they are not “The Hell Drivers” from Detroit nor are they the German band “Helldriver“. But if you liked the last post or The Red Coil then this shits gonna make you freak out.

Artist: Forged in Flame
Album: Forged in Flame EP
Year: 2008
Genre: Stoner Metal
Wow who would think that the mild-mannered state of Ohio would be the home of some heavy ass metal bands such as Chimaria, Fistula, Lo-Pan, Reg Giant and these metal monsters Forged in Flame.
Here’s how I found these guys: I was searching Newburycomics.com for Solace and one of the search results was for a concert poster. Among the list of bands was Backwoods Payback. After a search for Backwoods Payback I landed on their Facebook page. While on their FB page I saw that they played a show with Forged in Flame who also have a FB page.

Artist: Fight Amp
Album: Manners and Praise
Year: 2009
Genre: Stoner Metal, Sludge
Finally after listening to the new Black Tusk album “Taste the Sin” 20+ times I decided it was time to listen to something else. I didn’t want to go cold turkey from Black Tusk so I threw in Fight Amp’s “Manners and Praise”. About 3 songs in I noticed something very odd; this album (Fight Amp’s “Manners and Praise”) sounds very much like Black Tusk’s “Taste the Sin”. Yeah these two bands were on a split ep last year but the sound similarity of these 2 full length albums (Fight Amp’s “Manners and Praise” and Black Tusk’s “Taste the Sin”) is uncanny.
So if you’re digging the new Black Tuck album then you will cream your jeans over Fight Amp’s “Manners and Praise”.

Artist: Sonic Ritual
Album: Mother Hearse
Year: 2009
Genre: Stoner Metal
I stumbled on to Sonic Ritual a few nights ago while browsing Bandcamp. I found them under “doom metal” which I guess is close but I think they sound like another version of Black Sabbath and The Sword. And that’s a good thing because I like Black Sabbath and The Sword and you do to.
Anyway “Mother Hearse” is a 5 song EP that they are selling for dirt cheap that’s a pretty good listen.

Album: Pike
Artist: Beneath Death Valley (Demo)
Year: 2009
Genre: Stoner Metal with some Thrash and Doom
I found this demo last night on PlanetFuzz.net but I didn’t get a chance to listen to it until my drive to work today. At one point I almost had to pull over so because I was starting to head-bang involuntarily. This demo contains 2 full-length songs, a guitar-solo into and a drum solo out-take. I NEED MORE!!! Pike sounds like The Sword but faster and with an element of Doom Thrash.

Artist: Devil Riding Shotgun
Album: Demo
Year: 2010
Genre: Stoner Metal
This is a very doom tainted demo from Alburquerque, New Mexico’s Devil Riding Shotgun. This has got a Danzig meets The Sword meets The Doors on acid kind of stoner doom metal feel to it.
